Lilo's letters - alphabet 1 finished!

At last. I have been trying to scan the last of my first alphabet so that I can send it to you. I did what I started out with . . . Yupo paper and water color paper. . . this time I sprayed the water color paper with alcohol.

I am not quite sure how to compile my letters. . . unless I paste them vertically. . . . I think the next alphabet will perhaps try a book. . . .

Lilo's letters

I feel my brain is barren. . . so I decided to write my letters for this month in mirror writing. A little history. I was born left-handed and my father insisted that I learn to write with my right hand. I did! Years later in school I would doodle and found out by accident that I could write with my left hand but only backwards. Over the years much fun and curiosity followed this natural accident. I was a High School Teacher and would break the ice, so to speak, at the beginning of the school year taking a piece of chalk in each hand and writing at the same time in different directions. It worked and my students enjoyed seeing it. My backwards handwriting is identical to my regular writing. . . The top left is a 'd', next to it a 'c', below the d a 'q' and below the c an 'm'.

Lilo's February letters

My letters are done on Yupo paper which is an Asian paper 100% Polypropylene. It does not absorb watercolor and thus you can shove the paint around. You can also remove all color by wiping off with wet rag and start again. I find it lots of fun to play with. . . Once you have finished a painting you must spray it with a fixative to save it.

My first four letters

I am a bit late but enjoyed working on this project, and above all seeing what you all have done.

I used a Ruling Pen and Pelican 4001 ink. Paper is Arches 140lb CP. The effect on the paper was achieved by using Kosher salt, sprinkled on a soon as the watercolor is applied.
