MIEKE, A B C NUMBER 2
At first I wanted to make the second alphabet totally different. and thought of using photographs. But in the end I stuck with clay again. Although I will still use photo's as a reference.
So here we go first my photo's of the fruit.
Here are my little tiles still in the green ware stage, I will use stoneware clay this time for all my tiles to give it a better unity.
I have applied the underglaze colours which hopefully come out a bit brighter wen fired and glazed.
But from experience my hopes are high!
It will be a challenge as well to find all the fruits I need and will use vegetables if needed.

THE FINAL FOUR FROM MIEKE.

M-Painted
Y-Glazed and glass
G-Slip and glazed
P-Underglaze and clear glaze.

LATE!
Here we are with the next 5.
S-looks a bit messy to me! The red is a glaze and for the yellow I put small pieces of glass around the letter but they ran out a bit to far.
F- is glass slumping.
L-Letter in turquoise glaze with a white dry glaze.
J- terracotta clay with letter in white clay then a blue glaze al over.
U-white clay, letter in a twisted coil on top with an iron oxide wiped of, background yellow underglaze with clear glaze on top.
Pffffffff......a lot of different techniques for such little pieces (but fun anyway)

HOT, HOT, HOT....
As you all know I'm working in clay, a slow progress, compared to some of you working in other media.
So it takes me a little longer to get my letters ready I started a few weeks ago and decided to use different clay every month.
For January I have chosen white stoneware, printed pattern and glaze them after they have been bisque fired. And do 4 letters at the same time a wee bit of cheating! This is the first stage not fired yet.
At the moment my letters are really, really HOT!!
As you can see through the peephole of my kiln.
Always exiting to open the kiln and see how everything is the way I intended to.
I just have to wait till tomorrow!
